No post for long time

Sorry about that… This one isn’t going to be much better as I am at work.  The reason I haven’t been posting is that I’ve been doing lots of interesting stuff.  Very quick summary which will be fleshed out later, with photos. (By later I mean in about a week).

Stuff I have done since last post

  • Holiday in Queenstown and Milford sound with family for a week.
  • Acquired Toyota Hilux Surf – Deregistered, bit of a project.
  • Went and saw Fun with Dick and Jane at the movies.
  • Went to Rich and Lindsey’s wedding.
  • Went to Exponents concert
  • Played pool in town with a bunch of people on Friday night.
  • Attempted to put a new bottom bracket in my bike.

I promise I will tell you more about all of these next week.  I’m flying to Hamilton tonight.  Going tramping up Mt. Pirongia Wednesday and Thursday with Craig and Merodie – hopefully weather is better than predicted.  Then Parachute Music Festival from Friday to Monday and then maybe sailing or the beach or possibly some biking on Tuesday before flying back in the evening and then back to work Wednesday.

Hilux Surf

Well, here is the first post in my catchup on blogging marathon. I am going to backdate everything. I will create a new post with links to all the ones I do so that none disappear once I finish writing them all.
I acquired a deregistered Hilux Surf off trademe as a bit of a project. Various things need doing, including new brake discs, power steering belt, exhaust, a bit of panel beating, some lights, rear bumper, a mirror (done) and more. Here is the pic that was on trademe. It is currently a little more dismantled. The biggest problem at the moment is finding time to work on it.

My Family

Just a quick update as it’s late and I’m starting to get very tired.  We watched the extended edition of Dances with Wolves tonight… 227 minutes! Watched it with Mark and Anna and made friends with Mark’s dog Jess.

My family is currently down on holiday, travelling around the South Island in a campervan.  They arrived in Christchurch on Saturday evening and left Monday.  In between we had a fantastic dinner at the Beavons, played some Table Tennis and some buzz, went up the gondola and also played minigolf.  Also fell asleep during a few movies.  I took a few photos on Sunday up the Gondola and at minigolf.  You can find these here.

On  Friday I’m off down to  Queenstown to meet up with them and Louise, which should be an awesome time.  I’m sure I’ll tell you about it when I get back…

WordPress Upgraded

Not that you’ll probably notice any difference, but I just upgraded wordpress to version 2.0. The admin interface is significantly jazzed up which is cool. Very painless upgrade.

The short version

I still haven’t posted about what I got up to at Christmas or New Years… This is going to end up being the short version otherwise I’m never going to end up doing it.

Christmas was great. I spent Christmas Day with the Beavons and their extended family which was great – awesome people and amazing fodd, and then came home and hung out with Nick and Anna from about midnight. I spent most of the long weekend (Friday – Monday night) going to bed at an average of about 4am which is possibly why I’m struggling to remember what happened for some of it. On Monday we went to the beach and then we decided to get pizza and play some playstation outside in the sun, which actually worked quite well!

Somewhere around that time I also managed to fit in watching all the back to the future movies, which I’d never seen before. We also went and saw Legend of Zorro at the movies which was alright, but nothing overly fantastic.

For New Year we went camping at Lake Taylor in North Canterbury, which is at the end of a 35km gravel road and out of cellphone reception. – Fantastic! The North-West wind was also pretty strong, with a few tents threatening to take off here and there. I’ll let the pictures tell most of the story. We went up on Friday afternoon and came back on Sunday afternoon. We went for a walk up a nearby hill, from whence a number of the photos are taken, and went for a swim around the other side of the lake later in the afternoon. Pictionary, Uno, Cricket and various other games were also played with a number of quite vocal and probably justified accusations of cheating flying back and forth between all parties (mainly on the pictionary). We also had time for some tasty food in there and general enjoyment of each others company. Twas good to meet a bunch of new people.

Today I helped Gordon out by emptying the contents of his fridge, freezer and pantry and a large amount of the rest of his kitchen, which is now spread around my bedroom, the kitchen and the lounge (Well, the freezer and fridge stuff is actually in the fridge, but the rest is everywhere) I’m sure I’ll get around to sorting it out some time. Spent the afternoon and evening playing Playstation with Anna, Nick, Dave, Mess and Mark and also watched Dumb and Dumber, which I hadn’t seen for ages.

Tomorrow I’m going to the cricket (NZ vs Sri Lanka for those who don’t know), which will be a new experience as I’ve never been to a cricket match before. Should be fun, but I should probably go to bed now to be awake for it, so I’m going to stop writing.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I just finished making a bit of a photo collage with photos of me from this year, to send to all my distant (geographically) family and friends, and I thought I’d put it up here as well, so nobody misses out. I’m off to bed now, making it took somewhat longer than expected. If you read this site regularly, you may have seen most of them before.

Merry Christmas to everyone! 🙂
